A 'poor man's" Humidor
While I have been smoking and enjoying cigars for more than 25 years I have not yet sprung for a humidor. This is mainly because I would need several in various sizes to hold the modest inventory that I keep on hand. When I first started I needed something to keep my cigars fresh and found a couple large glass jars worked really well. They are NOT elegant though they do have the advantage of letting you see what's inside without opening them up. They also have the advantage of letting a little humidity condense on the inside when I blow a couple hot, moist breaths inside before I seal the lid. If I want to leave the cigars in the box then I use a zip lock Glad bag. Before I seal it i blow a few hot, wet breaths into the bag and that keeps them moist and fresh. The only warning I have is that if you use glass jars, loosely contain and LABEL each variety that you have inside so you know what each kind is. There is nothing worse than finding you have a favorite but not knowing what it is! |
